For our Positive Impact September 2017, Payline focused on supporting pediatric cancer research by working with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a national childhood cancer foundation dedicated to raising funds for research into new treatments and cures for all children battling cancer.
According to their site, ALSF emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
Since 2005, ALSF has provided over 690 medical research grants for 129 institutions across the United States and Canada. These grants allow doctors to bring the latest and most promising lifesaving treatments to seriously ill children, providing hope to patients and their families.
The mission of ALSF is to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures and to encourage and empower others – especially children – to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer. In true ALSF fashion, the Payline team hosted a lemonade stand in the lobby of our building, raising funds to support three hours of cancer research. Our overall impact will provide one week of potentially life-saving research.
